Schofield, Wisconsin (January 13, 2025) – Accurex XDGX make-up air units with direct gas-fired furnaces and packaged direct expansion cooling (PDX) have been redesigned to safely incorporate newly mandated R-454B refrigerant. R-454B is an A2L refrigerant mandated by the Environmental Protection Agency due to its lower global warming potential than previous refrigerants like R-410A. As of January 1, 2025, all manufacturers must comply with this new refrigerant standard.
A2L refrigerants are classified as mildly flammable, which presents a new challenge in the commercial HVAC industry. Accurex’s carefully engineered design and stringent product safety testing ensure the XDGX delivers make-up air benefits while operating safely.
The upgraded Model XDGX design also uses microchannel coils, which are more efficient than standard fin-and-tube coils. Compared to standard coils, microchannel coils are on average 40% smaller, use 50% less refrigerant, and transfer heat 40% more efficiently.
Accurex’s Model XDGX is ideal for make-up air kitchen and restaurant applications. Featuring a modular design and flexible configuration options, the XDGX is designed to safely deliver heated or cooled air at an affordable price point.
