Schofield, Wisconsin (October 2020) – Accurex, a leader in engineering simplicity into kitchen ventilation systems, has launched newly enhanced high-performance pollution control units (PCUs) with updated, streamlined designs that are tested and listed to UL 8782. UL 8782 is the new outline addressing unique requirements for PCUs and is mandatory on all units in the 2021 release of International Mechanical Code.

Both Accurex pollution controls units offer advanced features that set the standard in superior grease, smoke and odor removal. The Accurex Grease Trapper ESP includes an automated wash system that also cleans the pre-filters in place, exclusive to Accurex from other precipitators on the market and uses high-efficiency ESP cells for 95% overall grease and smoke removal. With the addition of a larger size ESP, Accurex has expanded its offering up to 13,500 cfm. Plus, plug-and play wiring and pre-plumbed drain and water manifolds provide easy installation. The Accurex Grease Trapper Filtered PCU offers four stages of increasing filter efficiency with a remote filter status indicator signaling when filters need replacing. With the pleated MERV 15 final filter, this efficient PCU delivers a minimum 95% overall grease removal.

Accurex PCUs meet the outlines set by UL 8782 which specifically focus on test and construction standards of Pollution Control Units for use in commercial kitchens, drawing from other standards such as the extreme temperature testing from UL 1978 and electrical stipulations from UL 710, while outlining additional requirements for PCUs including modular construction and material specifications.
